This was a three week course run by Lesley & Eileen in November 2014 at Oxgangs Neighbourhood Centre and very kindly funded by “WOMEN’S FUND FOR SCOTLAND” and “FOUNDATION SCOTLAND”.
We wanted to provide a short “follow on” course for the women who had completed the Sewing Course “A Stitch in Time”, to explore other options such as employment, further education and self employment. We also covered local and global issues of Poverty, Employability and Climate Change, Recycling and Up-cycling. We hoped to determine ways in which the Sashita team could help the local community, and were encouraged to hear that many of our course participants believed a Thrift Shop would benefit the area. To this end, we have plans to set up a thrift shop within the Oxgangs Neighbourhood Centre, in the near future.
